NEWS & EVENTS   News  |  London Golf Club to host Open Championship Regional Qualifying in 2010

The London Golf Club has been selected to host the Open Championship Regional Qualifying in 2010.

The Club is one of three new venues which have been added to the Royal & Ancient’s roster for the 150th anniversary Open at St Andrews.

There are now 16 golf clubs across the UK which will host the qualifying events for this Major championship in two years’ time.  The London Golf Club’s Jack Nicklaus-designed Heritage Course has been chosen to test the best of Kent’s amateur players as they vie to make the grade.

Securing the Open Championship Regional Qualifying is seen as another tick in the box for the Club.  Following the success of the European Open last July, the venue continues to affirm itself as one of the leading golf clubs in the country.

Marketing Director Abigail Nance: “The decision has come as a welcome endorsement that The London Golf Club’s meets the stringent criteria of the Royal & Ancient and we look forward to welcoming the region’s top golfers in their quest to qualify for the Open Championship.  With its links style, The Heritage will pose a good test for the players in preparation for St Andrews.”
